Will this get my pets high?
No, your pet will not experience any psychoactive effects or a "high" from our products. The CBD oil we use is derived from the hemp plant, containing less than 0.3% THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis responsible for the sensation of being "high." The cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol (CBD), in our CBD oil for pets do not induce psychoactive effects. While some dogs may exhibit energetic behavior, colloquially known as 'the zoomies,' initially at high doses, this is typically not observed with regular use.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, abbreviated as CBD, is a cannabinoid derived from the Cannabis sativa plant, commonly referred to as marijuana. Following numerous anecdotal accounts highlighting potential health advantages of CBD, ongoing studies are exploring its potential benefits in managing pain associated with conditions like osteoarthritis, alleviating anxiety in pets, and potentially serving as a treatment for epilepsy in dogs.
Is pet CBD legal?
In accordance with the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp-derived CBD products and their components are largely legal across all 50 states, provided they contain a THC percentage of 0.3% or less. While these products are mostly legal, there is currently a lack of regulation. As a CBD company, it is of utmost importance to us that legislation is established to regulate CBD, ensuring the availability of high-quality products for consumers. The U.S. Hemp Roundtable, of which Pet Releaf is a member, is at the forefront of this effort, staying informed about the latest developments, regulations, and policies in the industry. The organization emphasizes educating customers, policymakers, and businesses about the advantages and safety of hemp-derived CBD. Additionally, it actively advocates for legislation that guarantees the safety and legality of CBD products for both humans and pets.
How long does CBD oil take to start working?
The response to CBD oil can differ for each pet and ailment, so the timeframe for observing effects may vary.
In cases of situational anxiety and pain, you can expect to notice a difference within 15-30 minutes. If no change is observed within this timeframe, consider administering an additional dose. It's essential to keep in mind that pets cannot overdose on CBD, and due to individual variations, finding the optimal amount of CBD oil may require some adjustment for your specific dog or cat. Explore our dosing guidelines for more information.
How do I administer the drops?
To achieve the quickest and most comprehensive absorption, elevate the lip and administer the dose directly onto the gums, providing the most direct route into the bloodstream. If incorporated into food, the effectiveness may be reduced, and the onset time could be considerably extended (30-45 minutes) as it traverses the gastrointestinal system.
How can CBD help my pet?
CBD has the potential to encourage a sense of calmness, support a robust immune system, maintain healthy hips and joints, and contribute to a well-functioning digestive system. It is advisable to administer your pet's recommended daily usage amount to promote their overall well-being.
Will I need prescription from a vet to buy CBD for my pet?
No, it is not necessary. As all Pet Releaf products are entirely natural, there is no requirement for a veterinarian prescription. However, we do advise informing your vet about the use of Pet Releaf products so that they have a comprehensive understanding of your pet's health profile.
